Remembering a Perishing World in Your Prayers

Posted on August 29, 2014 by Matt Jury under Edward Bickersteth

You are not here asked to give your silver and gold, or your life, though these all belong to your Saviour; but the duty now pointed out is simply that of remembering a perishing world in your prayers. And in constantly, and faithfully discharging it, you are obeying the two great commands of love to God and love to man.

Edward Bickersteth, A Treatise on Prayer

No Question Whether an Event Has Happened Because of Your Prayer

Posted on August 28, 2014 by Matt Jury under C. S. Lewis

There is no question whether an event has happened because of your prayer. When the event you prayed for occurs your prayer has always contributed to it. When the opposite event occurs your prayer has never been ignored; it has been considered and refused, for your ultimate good and the good of the whole universe.

C. S. Lewis (1898-1963)
