Prophet, Priest and King

The threefold misery of humanity resulting from sin (that is, ignorance, guilt, and oppression and bondage of sin) required this threefold office. Ignorance is healed through the prophetic office, guilt through the priestly, and the oppression and bondage of sin through the kingly. The prophetic light scatters the darkness of error; the merit of the priest removes the guilt and obtains reconciliation for us; the power of the king takes away the bondage of sin and death. The prophet shows God to us; the priest leads us to God; and the king joins us together with God, and glorifies us with him. The prophet illuminates the mind by the spirit of enlightenment; the priest soothes the heart and conscience by the spirit of consolation; the king subdues rebellious inclinations by the spirit of sanctification.

The One True Worshiper

Since our salvation is received in union with Christ, what is His by nature is ours by grace. Thus, in His self-offering to the Father, He offers us His people in Him. We are thereby enabled to share in the relation He has with the Father…. Thus, Christ is, in reality, the one true worshiper, and our worship is a participation in His.

God Is Delighted in You Because of His Son!

Think of it: God is so delighted with Jesus Christ that he has called millions of sinful human beings to himself in order that Jesus might reproduce himself in them and that this universe might be populated with millions of Christs. This does not mean that we will become divine. We will still be his creation, the fruit of his fingers, but we will be like him. That is the point. We will show forth his character; we will be conformed to the image of Christ.
