If Jesus is who he says he is, and if his promises are as rewarding as the Bible claims they are, then we may discover that satisfaction in our lives and success in the church are not found in what culture deems most important but in radical abandonment to Jesus.
David Platt, Radical (Colorado Springs, Co.: Multnomah Books, 2010), 3.
Jesus is the son of God but he didn’t promise that being a Christian would be plain sailing or simple. In fact he clearly said we would be ridiculed, our family would reject us and our faith, they would deliver us to the courts. He also spoke of the apostasy so if we expect everything to be great being a Christian reread his words because it is hard work and sacrifice, not success.
Trotter, thank you for your thought provoking comment.

2 Corinthians 1:20
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
