Unprepared for Suffering
Too many of us are not prepared theologically for suffering. So when we do suffer, instead of trusting God we complain. We charge Him. We demand that He explain Himself.
We Can’t Have Enough of Christ
The New Testament begins with the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. No part of the Bible is so important as this, and no part is so full and complete. Four distinct Gospels tell us the story of Christ’s doing and dying. Four times over we read the precious account of His works and words. How thankful we ought to be for this! To know Christ is life eternal. To believe in Christ is to have peace with God. To follow Christ is to be a true Christian. To be with Christ will be heaven itself. We can never hear too much about Jesus Christ.

Worship Style Does Matter
Methods of worship and service do indeed matter: Uzzah’s corpse testifies to that.

The Most Sobering Reality in the World Today
Christians need to be reminded of the terrible doom hanging over the world, and of all the solemn eternal realities connected with our Lord’s coming in their bearing upon our daily life. So will our efforts for helping and saving others all be under the power of the thought of how short the time is, how terrible the fate of those who perish, and how urgent the call for everyone who knows redeeming love to do its work with all his might.
Uncomfortable Christianity
The most comfortable type of religion is always a vague religion, nebulous and uncertain, cluttered up with forms and ritual…. There is nothing so uncomfortable as clear-cut Biblical truths that demand decisions.

Wisdom and Fear
Wisdom… consists in the active fear of God and the practice of holiness.
A Caricature of Worship
Our worship must be in harmony with what God has revealed about Himself in His Word. It is possible to have zeal without knowledge (Romans 10.2). For example, if we stress only one side of God’s attributes — say, His mercy and love — without also stressing His sovreignty and holiness, we’re not worshipping in truth.
Who Is Really the Abnormal One?
The church has lost the cutting edge necessary to slice through the fabric of humanism and present a Scriptural alternative. It has gotten so bad that in some circles the person who thinks and acts Biblically is considered radical within the church itself.
