There are no distinctions of affection in the divine family. We are all loved just as fully as Jesus is loved. It is like a fairy story — the reigning monarch adopts waifs and strays and makes princes of them. But, praise God, it is not a fairy story: it is hard and solid fact, founded on the bedrock of free and sovereign grace. . . . No wonder John cries, “Behold, what manner of love!”
The Almighty appeared on earth as a helpless human baby, needing to be fed and changed and taught to talk like any other child. The more you think about it, the more staggering it gets. Nothing in fiction is so fantastic as this truth of the Incarnation.
