Intercession is the best arbitrator of all differences, the best promoter of true friendship, the best cure and preservative against all kind of tempers, all angry and haughty passions.
A good end cannot sanctify evil means; nor must we do evil, that good may come of it. . . To do evil that good may come of it is for bunglers in politics as well as morals.
The Lord heard both the heart cries, and the needed succour was given. The Lord can hear cries that never pierce the human ear. There is no sigh so low as to escape His hearing. The faintest breath of an aspiration sounds like thunder in the ears of the King. “He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.”
