What We Can’t See
…it is difficult for us to appreciate the reality of God sovereignly doing as He pleases in our lives because we do not see God doing anything. Instead we see ourselves or other people acting and events occurring, and we evaluate those actions and events according to our own preferences and plans. We see ourselves influencing or perhaps even controlling or being controlled by the actions of other people, but we do not see God at work. But over all the actions and events of our lives, God is in control doing as He pleases— not apart from those events, or in spite of them, but through them. Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery— a malicious act in and of itself—but in due time Joseph recognized that through his brothers’ actions God was acting. He could say to them, “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God.”

Out of Faith Rises Love
Out of faith rises love. No man can love God unless he believes that God loves Him. I, for my part, am old-fashioned and narrow enough not to believe that there is any deep, soul-cleansing of soul-satisfying love of God which is not the answer to the love that died on the cross. But you must believe that, and more than believe it; you must have trusted and cast yourselves on it, in the utter abandonment of self-distrust and Christ-confidence, before there will well up in your heart the answering love to God.
Faith Is Expectation
Faith expects from God what is beyond all expectation.

He Marries and Exalts Those Who Once Were Shamed
God extends his compassion and his mighty, rescuing arm to take away shame. Jesus both experienced shame and took our shame on himself, so shame no longer defines us. In fact, by grace through faith, it is no longer part of us. Then, in an act that seems inconceivable, God goes a step further: he marries and exalts those who once were shamed. (Isa. 54:4-5)
What Is Grace?
What is grace? That which is freely given. What is “freely given”? Given, not paid. If it was due, wages would be given, but grace would not be bestowed. But if it was really due, then you were good. But if, as is true, you were evil but believed on him who justifies the ungodly (What is, “who justifies the ungodly”? the ungodly is made righteous), consider what by right hung over you by the law and you have obtained by grace. But having obtained that grace by faith, you will be just by faith—”for the just lives by faith.”
Enjoying God Forever
Our enjoyment of Christ, our spiritual strength and fruitfulness, our nearness to God, and our experience of His working in us, all depend, not upon the single, isolated acts of faith, but upon the state of the heart.
The Beauty of Christ
Love grows out of faith by the discoveries of beauty in Christ which faith is sure to make.
Faith and Love
Faith always produces love.
In God We Trust
Our Nation’s motto — ‘In God We Trust’ — was not chosen lightly. It reflects a basic recognition that there is a divine authority in the universe to which this nation owes homage.
